Behind the Scenes: The Reality of Live Events in Bangladesh

Tonight, our One True Sound – Anupom Roy audience was meant to fill the venue with rhythm, joy and unforgettable memories. Over 2,500 music lovers were ready to experience the magic of live music, while our team, partners, vendors, and stakeholders worked tirelessly to make the show a success. Yet, here we are sitting with nothing. The concert could not take place. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to convince government stakeholders that entertainment has no borders. We failed to deliver to a passionate audience, and the harsh reality of the event industry hit home.

The Burden of Event Organizers

Calculating P&L, addressing partner concerns, and managing audience expectations, these are daily realities for event organizers. Shows get postponed or canceled, artists cannot perform, and organizers often bear losses that threaten the very existence of their businesses.

Policy Challenges

Policies with loopholes make our work even harder. When artists from abroad are blocked yet taxed, the system creates situations where organizers face penalties without recourse. Artist fees, venue costs, logistics, and vendor payments are often non-refundable, leaving organizers to absorb significant losses. It’s a difficult, exhausting, and often thankless job—but we do it because we believe in the magic of live music and the experiences it creates for audiences.

This is the reality of the industry in Bangladesh. We hope for better understanding, more support and smarter policies that empower artists, organizers, and audiences alike. To our audience: your excitement, patience, and love for music drive us. We promise to continue working tirelessly to bring these experiences to life—despite the obstacles. Live music is about connection, joy and shared experiences. And even when circumstances keep us apart, the passion for music continues to unite us.
